Immediate family members of active and retired Syracuse Firefighters are welcome to walk the parade route in front of Truck 3! Syracuse Firefighters Local 280 Ski Trip

Register today for the Syracuse Firefighters Local 280 Ski Trip at Gore Mountain on Wednesday, February 7, 2024. The event will be a day trip with a chartered bus paid for by Local 280.

Members, retirees, family, friends are welcome! Terrain available for all skill levels.

  • Group rate lift ticket included in price.
  • Skis/boots/poles rentals are $43.
  • Lessons are available.
  • Will be back in Syracuse by 7-8 PM.
  • Final cost TBD, likely $50 or less, depending on attendance. Will settle up day-of event.

Collins Block Memorial & Graduation Ceremony

Saturday, February 3, 2024, marks the 85th anniversary of the deadly 1939 Collins Block Fire in Downtown Syracuse. We shall never forget our fallen members who perished in the line of duty. The call of duty continues, and our department continues to grow with the addition of our brave and dedicated new recruits.

I cordially invite you to join me, Mayor Walsh, and members of the Syracuse Fire Department as we honor the nine Syracuse firefighters who were killed in the Collins Block Fire and the 33 other Syracuse firefighters who have died in the line of duty. Class A uniforms are welcomed but not necessary.

The agenda for the day is as follows:

  • 8:00 AM – Retiree and active members Meet and Greet with coffee and donuts at Park Central Presbyterian Church, located directly across the street from Firefighter’s Park at 504 E. Fayette St.
  • 9:30 AM – The Collins Block Memorial Ceremony will occur at Fayette Firefighters Park.
  • 10:00 AM – Recruit graduation ceremony for our current recruit class, held at Park Central Presbyterian Church.
  • 11:15 AM – Brunch provided by Local 280.

Laun Memorial Dedication — Wednesday, December 13, 1:30 PM

We cordially invite you to attend the dedication of a memorial stone in honor of retired Deputy Fire Chief and lifelong Eastwood resident, Deputy Fire Chief H. Thomas Laun.

Fire Chief Mike Monds haas invited retired Fire fighters to the training center on Monday September 11th for coffee and donuts before the ceremony and then take the bus to the ceremony which starts about 8:30 am. The ceremony is at Forman park this year . (Genesee & Almond streets)
