Retired members of the Syracuse Fire Department are the foundation of our great organization. It is my great pride and pleasure to invite you, as Retired Syracuse Firefighters, to the 2023 Syracuse Fire Department Promotion and Medals Award Ceremony. As you know, this ceremony will recognize the courageous and dedicated work of our firefighters as they serve and protect the City of Syracuse.

The ceremony is scheduled for 4:30 PM on Saturday, May 20, 2023, at the National Veterans Resource Center located at South Crouse and Waverly Avenue. Retirees are encouraged to wear their Class A uniform, but your attendance is certainly graciously welcomed if you choose not to wear it.

The Medal of Honor, Francis Hendricks Medal, Arthur Jenkins Medal, Mayor’s Medal, Fire Chief’s Medal, Thomas F. Hanlon III Medal, Valor Awards along with other medals will be awarded at the ceremony to deserving recipients, as well as recognizing SFD members who have been promoted.

Immediately following the award ceremony, Syracuse Firefighters Local 280 will host a separate reception in the upper level at this location. All retired members of the department are encouraged to attend. Family members and friends are also invited to attend.
